Motel6guide
A guide to Motel 6's I've, and my friends, have stayed at. With a particular emphasis on the conveniences that dog fanciers appreciate. Motel 6's are never fancy but they usually provide basic rooms for those who would spend their money on the more important stuff like good food and good shopping!

Joplin MO, the good and bad points.
I stayed at this Motel 6 on the way to and from New Mexico, two wekends ago. it is a typical motel, small rooms, faded carpets and the dreaded noisy fan that automatically comes on with the bathroom light. On the other hand, it has outside entrances to the rooms and on the south side of the building across from the pool is a gap in the fence to a convenient dog walking area. The Motel is about a half mile North of interstate 44 at the Range Road exit, mile marker 8B. Being a bit removed from the interstate makes it quieter with less road noise. Best of all there is a great variety of restaurants located nearby including a Starbucks!

Grand Junction CO and Elizabethtown KY recommended!
Grand Junction Colorado has a good one and Elizabethtown KY (Deej)
Greenville SC Motel 6-not recommended!
That is great. The Motel 6 in Greenville SC is in a scary part of town and is NOT recommended. I've stayed at many others that were fine. (Ingrid)
Ingrid is right - Motel 6 in Greenville off I-85 is awful. After checking in I had to leave because the room smelled horrible and there appeared to be questionable stuff going on! There's a better Motel 6 close to show site (hearsay) that I'll try next time.

Geneva NY location
The tips below are from a fellow dog fancier, and please feel free to add comments and tips of your own!
Geneva, NY - good location, close to shops (for dog food) and restaurants, local to Finger Lakes and lovely touristy area. Hotel ok, undergoing renovation, could do with better bedding and towels (like drying with sandpaper) so bring your own. Ants and spiders in some rooms. According to staff this year they are replacing driveup sliding doors with solid windows so will have to enter through central corridor next visit (they say too many bugs get in through the sliding doors - you don't say!).
Yep you can add my stuff - oh and add to it good walking area for dogs, AND Tim Hortons next door - great Mexican down the street.

Why I'm doing this guide.
So....I'm cheap. And...I travel a lot! And I have dogs that travel with me. Thus Motel 6's are where I spend an inordinate amount of nights on the road. I thought that from now on I would post the good and bad qualities of the Motel 6 locations i stay at throughout the country, especially from the point of view of dog fanciers.
